Adulting, But With Faith

Writer: DaisyDaisy

Sis, let’s talk about it! I’m finally in my 30’s and honestly, I have no complaints! I mean…my joints were already a tad bit sore before turning 30 so I think I just need to do some more stretching and exercising, something I should already be doing…but we listen and we don’t judge! I have been getting back into the gym and I’ve started back meal prepping so I am winning in that category.

But I wouldn’t be this disciplined if it wasn’t for the Lord! If I’m being honest, I really want Five Guys and a milkshake but because I know the Lord has called me to encourage you ladies I want to be the best healthiest version of myself so that I can live the life God has called me to.

To the woman reading this, THIS IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE! God has a plan for you! No matter how much we criticize ourselves God continuously shows us and reminds us that we are perfect in His eyes. The scripture tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and I believe that we should be living out that scripture in our daily lives.

I believe that how we show up for ourselves is a reflection of God’s presence in our lives. Each day that we decide to put our best foot forward is another day we have to represent Christ.

Now, we’re not always going to want to roll out of bed and be “That Girl” but if we ask the Lord to give us the strength in our weakest moments then He will show up on our behalf.

In a world full of darkness, I desire to be the light that points others to Chris. You may be asking yourself, HOW? How do I do these things when I don’t have it in me to do it? Well, I’ve been there. I’ve been heartbroken, upset, and disappointed. I’ve turned to worldly things instead of turning to Christ, so I know how uneasy this feeling this.

It’s very easy to give into our situations and allow things to remain the same. But what would happen if we decide to stop dwelling on the shoulda, coulda, wouldas, and LET GOD IN. This is adulting but WITH FAITH!

“Life is going to life” but we have God on our side and that’s the truth. If you look back over the times you’ve prayed and those prayers have been answered don’t you think that God can do it again?

Every season may not be a “winning season” let’s just be honest. In some seasons we’re meant to pause while in others, we’re meant to be in go mode.

I’ve had my share of doing life alone, and sis, it does not work! It’s honestly a scam, and I do not advise anyone to think they can successfully “do life” alone. Doing life alone means not tuning into a community of believers when you need them, and that could also mean doubting God. But I’m here to encourage you because we’ve all been there. We’ve all felt like “no one understands” or “my problems are too big for God.” But God understands and He is a waymaker and nothing is too big for OUR GOD.

I heard a pastor say it best that Jesus knows what you’re going through because he too knows what it feels like. He knows what it feels like to be betrayed, hurt, alone…you name it! So don’t ever think for a moment that you are alone, God is always with you.

I don’t have all of the answers, but I believe that having a community, being in prayer, fasting, and releasing our cares unto the Lord is how we can go about living our lives in complete faith.

Community

I’m not gonna lie, community is very significant and I sometimes struggle with this myself. I grew up very distant and I never really allowed people into my life but I quickly learned that the enemy can easily get to us when we’re alone. I went through a rough patch and it was such a lonely time, but I met wonderful women in Christ and I allowed the walls I had put up to come down so that my heart could let others in.

Prayer

Prayer is our direct line to God, He desires for us to come to Him during our times of need and during our times of praise. Prayer is a conversation, or at least that’s what my prayer life looks like. I literally pray all throughout my day, it could be a simple “Lord please help me get through this day” when I’m having a tough time. Prayer is also how I intercede on behalf of others. I love praying for others, it’s such a kind gesture that has the power to change someone’s entire life.

Fasting

Fasting is a period in which we sustain from certain things in order to grow and hear from the Lord. Fasting is how we strip ourselves of the things that we’re used to in order to seek the Lord fully and only depend on Him. I did the Daniel Fast (correctly) a few years ago because I needed the Lord to work on me. It was truly life-changing. I went into this fast with the desire of the Lord preparing me for what’s to come and I believe that in order for Him to prepare me I needed to do some inner work, and that’s exactly what happened.

Release

I struggle with this one the most, releasing…girl! After coming together in prayer with your community and fasting to hear from the Lord it’s time to release it. We must place our trust in God’s hands and allow Him to do what He does best and that’s work things out on our behalf. This act of faith is so powerful.

You see, adulting doesn’t have to be that bad. Each season looks different and each season will require something different, but I know for a fact the only constant will forever be our Heavenly Father. He was there when it started and He’ll be there to see you through. Have faith, sis.

You’re going to be just fine.

Scripture for Meditation:

1 Peter 5:7: Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
